Homebase Review
Homebase is famous for its high standard of good for home and garden, and the calibre of service is maintained with its different levels of pet insurance available online. The insurance is specifically designed for dogs and cats, so no other pets can be covered, but the policies are extensive and offer many benefits. For cats, Homebase offers Cat Care with £1,000 per year for vet fees, and cover for death from accident or illness, cattery fees, theft or straying and repeat tick and tapeworm treatment. Cat Care Plus offers similar cover, but increases the coverage value, so vet fees can amount to £2,500 per year, whilst many of the other values increase accordingly to provide extra insurance. Both policies can include 12 months overseas travel, and £1,500 for holiday cancellation, and it is worth noting that the premium will change depending on whether you own a ‘Moggie cat’ or a ‘Pedigree cat’. For dogs, you can choose between Silver, Gold and Platinum levels, although every level will include third party liability, emergency expenses abroad, tick and tapeworm treatment, holiday cancellation and cover for death from accident or injury. The levels of cover differ mainly through the value of cover, as opposed to additional benefits; the cover for vet fees rises from £3,000 on Silver level up to £7,500 on Platinum. The highest level of cover will offer you an unlimited cover period, whereas the other two have a limit or 12 months per condition. The price of the policy will depend on whether your dog is crossbreed or pedigree, and you can choose to pay monthly for your cover, no matter whether the cover is for a dog or a cat. Homebase Pet Insurance is a good choice for those looking at a policy specifically aimed at dogs or cats, with plenty of benefits and great value coverage as standard.
