Virgin Money UK has designed three levels of pet insurance that provide choice, quality and peace of mind. The cheapest option is ‘Accidental injury’, which is in place to help cover unexpected costs incurred when your pet is involved in an accident. Vet fees are covered for up to £1,500 for a maximum of 12 months treatment per injury, and there is access to three useful helplines. The next level is ‘Accident & illness’, which, as the name suggests, will provide cover in the event of any accident or illness, with a maximum time frame and amount applicable per condition. Vet fees are increased to £3,000, and the time limited for treatment is 12 months. The final level of cover is ‘Accident & illness extra’, which does not include any time limit on treatment; the coverage for treatment can last until the maximum amount of £6,000 is paid out, per condition, in full. The access to three pet helplines is applicable to every policy, and there are plenty of optional extras, such as third party liability and overseas travel cover, to include at an additional cost, but there is no option to insure any animals other than dogs and cats.
